1. Introduction — Who We Are

uWish Baby is operated by MountainCat sp. z o.o., a company registered in Poland. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and their families. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the uWish Baby mobile application and related services.

By using uWish Baby, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data to provide and improve our service:

  • Account information: Your email address and display name, collected during registration via our authentication system (Better Auth).
  • Baby profiles: Your baby's name and date of birth, which you provide to set up tracking.
  • Sleep session data: Start time, end time, optional notes, and quality rating for each sleep session you record.
  • Device push tokens: Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) tokens, used to deliver notifications to your device.
  • Notification preferences: Your in-app notification settings, managed through our notification service (Novu).

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • To provide the core sleep tracking functionality of the app.
  • To display sleep patterns, statistics, and insights based on your recorded data.
  • To send you push notifications (e.g., reminders) based on your preferences.
  • To enable caregiver sharing — allowing people you invite to view and log sleep data.
  • To authenticate your account and maintain your session.
  • To improve the app based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.

Your baby's data is shared only with caregivers you explicitly invite through the app's sharing feature. You control who has access at all times and can revoke access at any point.

We may share data with service providers who assist in operating the app (e.g., notification delivery, error tracking), but only to the extent necessary for them to perform their function, and under strict confidentiality obligations.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored in a SQLite database on a backend server hosted by Hetzner in Germany, within the European Union. This ensures your data is subject to EU data protection regulations.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls.

6. Your Rights (GDPR)

As a user in the European Union, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: You can update or correct inaccurate data through the app or by contacting us.
  • Right to erasure: You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app's settings. Upon account deletion, all your data — including baby profiles, sleep sessions, and caregiver connections — is permanently removed from our servers.
  • Right to data portability: You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to restrict processing: You can request that we limit how we use your data.
  • Right to object: You can object to certain types of data processing.

7. Children's Privacy

uWish Baby is designed for parents and caregivers to track their baby's sleep. The app is not intended for use by children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. Baby profile data (name, birthdate) is provided by the parent or caregiver and is used solely for sleep tracking purposes.

8. Push Notifications

We use push notifications to send you timely reminders and updates. You can manage your notification preferences within the app or through your device's system settings. Your device push token is stored securely and is used solely for delivering notifications you have opted into.

9. Analytics and Error Tracking

We use the following services to improve app quality:

  • Aptabase: A privacy-focused analytics service. It collects anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as which screens are visited and general usage patterns). No personally identifiable information is collected or transmitted to Aptabase.
  • Sentry: An error tracking service used to detect and fix crashes and bugs. Sentry may receive crash reports containing device information (model, OS version), stack traces, and breadcrumbs (recent actions before the crash). No personal data such as baby names or sleep data is included in error reports.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
